Hemisection. Dentist in Tooting, Emergency dentist Tooting

A hemisection is the procedure of cutting a tooth that has two roots in half. When the areas have been separated, a dentist will evaluate whether each half of the root can be restored or not.

This procedure may be needed when there is bone loss, or dental decay between the roots due to gum disease. Before the procedure is carried out, patients will undergo root canal treatment.

Hemisection is an alternative, effective, and conservative treatment modality over conventional procedure or extraction of periodontally and endodontic affected teeth.

Dentist in Tooting Medical Centre will look at x-rays, examine your teeth and pinpoint areas of decay, and check the extent of your periodontal disease. Hemisection will take between 30 minutes and an hour to carry out.
